چکیده

The classic Yee Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) algorithm employs central differences to achieve second-order accuracy, i.e., if the spatial and temporal step sizes are reduced by a factor of , the phase error associated with propagation through the grid will be reduced by a factor of . The Yee algorithm is also second-order isotropic meaning the error as a function of the direction of propagation has a leading term which depends on the square of the discretization step sizes. An FDTD algorithm is presented here that has secondorder accuracy but fourth-order isotropy. This algorithm permits a temporal step size 50 percent larger than that of the three-dimensional Yee algorithm. Pressure-release resonators are used to demonstrate the behavior of the algorithm and to compare it with the Yee algorithm. It is demonstrated how the increased isotropy enables post-processing of the simulation spectra to correct much of the dispersion error. The algorithm can also be optimized at a specified frequency, substantially reducing numerical errors at that design frequency. Also considered are simulations of scattering from penetrable spheres ensonified by a pulsed plane wave. Each simulation yields results at multiple frequencies which are compared to the exact solution. In general excellent agreement is obtained.

In this paper, a numerical solution of time fractional advection-dispersion equations are presented. The new implicit nite dierence methods for solving these equations are studied. We examinepractical numerical methods to solve a class of initial-boundary value fractional partial dierentialequations with variable coecients on a nite domain. Seismic modeling by optimizing regularized staggered-grid finite-difference operators using a time-space-domain dispersion-relationship-preserving method

The staggered-grid finite-difference (FD) method is widely used in numerical simulation of the wave equation. With stability conditions, grid dispersion often exists because of the discretization of the time and the spatial derivatives in thewave equation. Therefore, suppressing grid dispersion is a key problem for the staggered-grid FD schemes. To reduce the grid dispersion, the traditional me...

The Perceptual Effects of Dispersion Error on Room Acoustic Model Auralization

Acoustic modelling can be informative in the analysis and design of room and concert hall acoustics. There are two types of acoustic models, geometric and wave-based. Geometric models assume sound propagation is ray-like and therefore suited to high frequency room impulse response (RIR) estimation. Wave-based methods are founded on a discrete numerical solution to the wave equation and are ther...

On some critical aspects of numerical simulation of seismic wave propagation

Numerical simulation of seismic waves is essential for understanding field observations and developing inversion schemes. The wavefields generated by the most popular numerical methods such as finite differences and finite elements are often contaminated with grid dispersion and edge reflections. We will present a grid dispersion and stability analysis based on a generalized eigenvalue formulat...

An efficient finite difference time domain algorithm for band structure calculations of Phononic crystal

In this paper, a new algorithm for studying elastic wave propagation in the phononic crystals is presented. At first, the displacement-based forms of elastic wave equations are derived and then the forms are discretized using finite difference method. So the new algorithm is called the displacement-based finite difference time domain (DBFDTD). Three numerical examples are computed with this met...
